Reorganization Meeting Minutes

March 18, 2025

Board Members Present: Chairman Sundet (via Teams); Supervisor Vareberg; Supervisor Friesen

Officers Present: Clerk Karen Eifealdt; Treasurer Becky Renner

Others Present: None

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Sundet at 6:30 p.m.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

The election results were certified and the Oaths of Office were administered to Supervisor Kyle Vareberg and Treasurer Becky Renner by Clerk Karen Eifealdt.

A motion was made by Supervisor Vareberg and seconded by Supervisor Friesen to nominate Supervisor Sundet to remain as Chairman.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Supervisor Sundet and seconded by Supervisor Vareberg to nominate Supervisor Friesen as Vice-Chair.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Supervisor Sundet and seconded by Supervisor Friesen to nominate Supervisor Vareberg as the Road Supervisor.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Supervisor Vareberg and seconded by Supervisor Friesen to nominate Supervisor Sundet as Weed Supervisor.  Motion carried. 

A motion was made by Supervisor Sundet and seconded by Supervisor Friesen to nominate Supervisor Vareberg in charge of public relations, legal affairs, and courthouse matters.  Motion carried.

Clerk Eifealdt presented proposed meeting dates for 2025/26 if keeping with the first Tuesday of the month.  After reviewing the dates, a motion was made by Supervisor Vareberg and seconded by Supervisor Sundet to continue with the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Supervisor Sundet and seconded by Supervisor Friesen to designate the D.L. Tribune, the Erie Town Hall and the Erie Township website as the locations of publishing and posting of legal notices as was discussed at the annual meeting on March 11th.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Supervisor Sundet and seconded by Supervisor Vareberg to leave the designation of the bank up to the discretion of the board as long as it remain local as discussed at the annual meeting on March 11th. Motion carried. 

After a brief discussion regarding wages, which had been set significantly higher last year, a motion was made by Supervisor Friesen and seconded by Supervisor Vareberg to keep the wages the same.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Supervisor Friesen and seconded by Supervisor Sundet to set the mileage rate at $ .70/mile in line with the IRS guidelines.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Supervisor Sundet and seconded by Supervisor Vareberg to continue at the current rate of $2.50 for animal bounties.  Motion carried.

A motion was made by Supervisor Sundet and seconded by Supervisor Vareberg to donate $10,000 to the Frazee Rescue Squad as was discussed and approved by the electors at the annual meeting on March 11th.

A motion was made by Supervisor Vareberg and seconded by Supervisor Friesen to adjourn the meeting and the meeting was adjourned at 6:55p.m.
