Road Report:
Supervisor Sundet gave Dale Renner’s gravel report, noting that the gravelling was mostly complete with only NW Pickerel Road, Carlson Drive and 350th left to do.
Dan Gustner reported that he is pretty much caught up and will start grading next week
Supervisor Sundet and Supervisor Vareberg had received calls from the bus service and from the public school regarding the condition of Klein Road. Comments were made that it wasn’t that bad and that the dry weather is a contributing factor.
Old Business:
Minimum maintenance roads:
NW Pickerel: The first concern is keeping it open for the winter and then moving forward to widen the road and eliminate the minimum maintenance status. Supervisor Sundet made the suggestion to begin the project this fall by removing the trees that need to be removed from the west side and then finish the project next spring by taking care of the east side. A motion was made by Supervisor Sundet and seconded by Supervisor Vareberg to contact the landowners as soon as possible to gain their agreement, and also to locate any buried lines before proceeding. Motion carried. Supervisor Vareberg will talk to John Okeson for input on making it a proper right of way.
SWPickerel: The suggestion was made to look at widening it in 2025.
330th: The suggestion was made to look at this project in 2026.
Dan Gustner brought up two turnarounds that are difficult to get turned around in – one on SW Pickerel where there is a drop off. If that could be built up a little, it would be helpful. The other is on 190th which is tight to turn around and currently he needs to back up into the trees in order to get turned around. If a few trees could be removed, it would be helpful. Supervisor Vareberg will contact both landowners to see if they would agree to the suggestions.
In order for our insurance policy to cover anyone working for the township, they need to be classified as an employee of the township. Supervisor Sundet will contact Rob Rungquist to find out if he has a policy himself that would cover him when working for the township.
New Business:
There was some discussion on becoming pro-active in tree and brush removal in in township right of ways and to also get rid of any tree canopies especially on Carlson Rd. The suggestion was made to put it out for bids in the spring. Supervisor Sundet said Rob Rungquist would be willing to get the tree canopy down on Carlson Road this fall and then possibly Matt Arola provide the clean up after.
Dan Gustner and Matta Arola will work together to clean up the brush and trees that are currently in the ditches.
There were no objections to the zoning requests that were reviewed by the Board. Supervisor Vareberg addressed the Notice of Public Hearing coming up on October 8th, indicating that it does not make any changes, but is a plan to identify where there’s future growth – a guide based off of public input.
Clerk Eifealdt provided the Board a copy of the Becker County Township Association meeting coming up on October 17th.
Treasurer Renner noted that the CD is up for renewal. A motion was made by Supervisor Vareberg and seconded by Supervisor Sundet to renew the CD for six months. Motion carried.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Supervisor Vareberg and seconded by Supervisor Friesen to adjourn the meeting and the meeting was adjourned at 7:06 p.m.
Respectfully submitted
Karen Efiealdt, Clerk
