Erie Township 

Regular Board Meeting Minutes

December 6th, 2022


Board Members Present:  Chairman Charles Chadbourne and Supervisor Gerald Schram

Officers Present:                 Clerk Dawn Utke, Treasurer Becky Renner and ARPA General Manager

                                               Deb Zachariason.

Absent:                                 Supervisor Kyle Vareberg

Others Present:                  Dale Renner and Dan Gustner


Chairman Chuck Chadbourne called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.  The agenda was reviewed by the board.  Supervisor Schram made a motion to approve, Supervisor Chadbourne second, motion carried.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

After reviewing November 1st, 2022 meeting minutes Supervisor Schram made the motion to approve the minutes and Supervisor Chadbourne second, motion carried.

Treasurer, Renner gave the Treasure’s Report with the checking account having a November ending balance of $95,358.38, the money market having an ending balance of $515,286.10, and the CD having an ending balance of $129,807.61 making a total ending balance of all accounts at $740,452.09.

Supervisor Schram motioned to approve Treasure’s Report and Supervisor Chadbourne second, motion carried.

Refuse and Garbage funds, Treasurer Renner is going to check with MAT to see what can be done with the funds, if we can move them etc.

Supervisor Chadbourne made a motion for Treasurer Renner to print the W-2’s and 1099’s, Supervisor Schram second, motion carried.

Payment of bills was done.

Road Report:

Back up snow plow operator’s will be reposted on the website and in the paper.

Supervisor Chadbourne asked that a statement be put on our website in regards to personal plowing and to not have it piled up on the shoulder of the roads.  If they had questions, they could contact Supervisor Chadbourne.  That has been completed. 

Chains for plow trucks—Supervisor Chadbourne made a motion to purchase chains and Supervisor Schram second, motion carried.

Old Business:

ARPA—Received a $430,000 estimate from Foltz Building for a new township building.  After discussion, Supervisor Chadbourne made a motion to have ARPA Manager go and get estimates from a couple of lumber yards and see if they are comparable in order to see what direction we will be going with the building, Supervisor Schram second, motion carried.

New Business:

Review of 2023 quote forms was tabled until the next meeting.

Fire Chief, no movement has been made, Supervisor Chadbourne will continue to work with them.

Weed Report was sent to Supervisor Vareberg by Supervisor Chadbourne.

Filing for Township Officers has been put in the paper and posted on our website.

Resolution of Designating Polling place was approved by the board.

Insurance Policy—Supervisor Schram made a motion to change the deductible and Supervisor Chadbourne second, motion carried.  Supervisor Chadbourne was going to RB Auction and see if he can find quotes as to what the old plow is worth.

Special meeting with Burlington Township has been scheduled for January 4th at Burlington Town Hall to discuss Tower Road at 6:00 p.m.  Supervisor Chadbourne is going to do some research on who/what was responsible for that road in the past.  He thought it was they took the black top and we had the gravel end of it.

MAT University—Free for the first year of online training.  Just wanted everyone to be aware of it.

Citizen’s Comments:  There were none

Supervisor Schram made a motion to adjourn, Supervisor Chadbourne second, motion carried.  Meeting was adjourned at 7:55
