Erie Township

Minutes of Regular Board Meeting

December 5th, 2023

Board Members Present:  Chairperson Gerry Schram, Supervisor Kyle Vareberg and Supervisor Neal Sundet attended via zoom from Golf Shores Alabama

Officers Present:                 Clerk, Dawn Utke; Treasurer, Becky Renner and ARPA Manager, Deb

                                               Zachariason

Others Present:                   Dale Renner, Matt Arola, Chris and Donna Kennedy

Chairperson Schram called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Agenda was approved, Supervisor Vareberg made the motion, Supervisor Schram second, motion carried.

Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

November meeting minutes were approved, Supervisor Vareberg made the motion, Supervisor Sundet second, motion carried.

Treasurer Renner gave the Treasure’s report ending in November 30,2023 with an ending balance in the checking account of $317,730.12; the money market having an ending balance of $449,128.98 and the CD with an ending balance of $133,077.96 with a total of all accounts at $899,937.06.  Supervisor Vareberg made the motion to approve, Supervisor Sundet second, motion was approved.

Payment of Bills:  Supervisor Schram motioned to approve, Supervisor Vareberg second, motion was carried.

Citizen’s Comments:  None

Road Report:  Burlington Township wanted to know if they wanted them to brush our end of the road, Supervisor Vareberg told them no and that we would handle our end of the road.  Tom Graham called Supervisor Vareberg and wanted to know if he was still supposed to do the 3 small areas that he has done in the past for snowplowing.  Supervisor Vareberg talked with our snowplow driver Gustner and it was decided that he can continue to do the areas as before.  Carlson submitted a bill for his first portion of work done on the turn around at the end of 205th St., Supervisor Vareberg motioned to approve the $1300.00 bill, Supervisor Sundet second, motion carried. 

Old Business:  ARPA Manager gave a report on expenditures of ARPA allocations and we have a remaining balance of $21,695.56 to use.  Snowplowing resolution, Supervisor Vareberg motioned to approve, Supervisor Sundet second, motion carried.  Mail boxes will be replaced with the swinging arm if destroyed by the plow. Supervisor Vareberg motioned to approve a building so that the citizens of Erie Township can use it for events such as anniversary’s birthday parties etc., Supervisor Sundet second, motion was carried with two yes votes and one no.  Budget was tabled to February meeting.  Treasurer Renner will continue to work on numbers.

New Business:  Weed report will be done by December 15th,2023.  Erie townhall will continue to be our designated polling place.  2024 contracts were discussed, Supervisor Vareberg stated we know from last year what needs to be solicited.  Zoom meetings, Supervisor Vareberg made a motion to approve zoom meetings, Supervisor Sundet second, motion carried.  Supervisor Gerry motioned to obtain a debit card and allow up to $500 to use for zoom meetings or any other expense that comes up and needs to be dealt with right away, Supervisor Sundet second, motion carried. 2024 election resolution to allow supervisors and/or treasurer to work at the township election, Sup0ervisor Schram made the motion, Supervisor Vareberg second, motion carried.  Resignation, the Clerk is resigning.  She has agreed to stay on until March 31, 2024.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:42 p.m. Supervisor Schram made the motion, Supervisor Vareberg second and motion was carried.
