Minutes of Regular Board Meeting
January 2, 2024
Board Members Present: Chairperson Gerry Schram, Supervisor Kyle Vareberg and Supervisor Neal Sundet
Officers Present: Clerk, Dawn Utke; Treasurer, Becky Renner and ARPA Manager, Deb Zachariason
Others Present: Dan Gustner, Dale Renner, Chris Kennedy, Donna Kennedy and Matt Arola
Chairperson Schram called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Agenda was approved with two additions, Supervisor Sundet made the motion, Supervisor Vareberg second, motion carried.
Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
December meeting minutes approved, Supervisor Sundet made the motion, Supervisor Vareberg second, motion carried.
Treasurer Renner gave the Treasure’s report ending December 31, 2023 with an ending balance in the checking account of $409,902.39; the money market having an ending balance of $452,551.87 and the CD with an ending balance of $133,077.96 with a total of all accounts at $995,532.22. Supervisor Vareberg made the motion to approve, Supervisor Sundet second, motion carried.
Payment of bills: Supervisor Vareberg made the motion to approve, Supervisor Sundet second, motion carried.

Citizen’s Comments: Donna Kennedy had questions in regards to a new town hall. She stated she would like to see a new town hall with small kitchen and indoor plumbing but she did not think we needed anything large. The Supervisor’s explained that it was in the works but no decisions have been made. They are planning on making a little bigger town hall to have some amenities and to allow the citizens of Erie Township the option of using it for small venues.
Supervisor Vareberg made the motion for Supervisor Sundet to seek out plans, bids etc. for a new townhall, Supervisor Schram second, motion carried.
Supervisor Schram wanted to thank Supervisor Sundet for all the work he has been doing with the roads and Mr. Gustner for the Christmas card and thank you from him.
Supervisor Schram brought up the open meeting law just as a reminder to all involved.
Road Report: Supervisor Sundet provided a copy of the township roads to look at in order to have an idea where the board would like to go with the budget for our roads this coming year.
Old Business: ARPA manager gave her report we have a little more that $8,000 and the ARPA money will be gone.
New Business: We received a letter from the county assessor, Supervisor Schram was going to follow up on this.
Fire Contract was signed both by Chairperson Schram and Clerk Utke.
March 4th will be regular meeting and Board of Audit
March 5th Primary Elections
March 12th Township elections from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and then the Annual Meeting and Board of Canvas to follow
March 19th Reorganizational meeting
