Road Report:

Roads are reported as being in pretty decent shape overall.

Gravelling was completed on Aljoe Lane.

Questions and concerns related to the 305th Ave re-surfacing project were directed to John Okeson.  The biggest concern was in regards to the southbound lane of 305th Ave that it was like a roller coaster.  Mr. Okeson responded that both he and Driveway Service were aware of the issue.  One possible reason was given that they may have over-rolled it in an effort to work out any air bubbles underneath in order to strengthen it.  The suggestion was made to give it a year and it may smooth out after time.

Other future projects were briefly discussed.  The sealcoating on Pickeral Lake Road and the overlay on Sunset Lane will be put on the agenda for spring to be discussed further.

The process on the Tower Road project will begin after the first of the year.

Supervisor Sundet reported that he had made contact with the landowners affected by the possible plan to eliminate the minimum maintenance road on NW Pickerel Lake Road and all were favorable to the idea.  Some discussion followed and it was agreed that if there were a firm commitment to proceed by all the landowners, a start could be made by removing some of the trees.

There have been a number of calls regarding roads being slimy after the first few snowfalls with East Pickerel probably being the worst due to the spraying of potassium chloride used for road stabilization.  This topic will be addressed at a future meeting.

There have been several calls, some from the Sheriff’s Dept, regarding some township roads needing sanding.  Dan Gustner did get some sand from Dale Renner and did apply some sand to one road where a vehicle had slid off and rolled.  He also scraped some of the roads to rough them up a little bit to make them less slippery.  This brought up the question of the need for a sand/salt policy for both for gravel and paved roads.  Supervisor Vareberg will get a copy of a policy that we could use and it will be added to the January agenda.
